FED: Justice will take years for bridge victim, says dad

The father of an Australian girl suing the Israeli government and organisers of the 1997
Maccabiah Games says it will take years to get justice for his daughter.

17-year-old SASHA ELTERMAN is suing the two parties for millions of dollars after she was
plunged into the polluted waters of the Yarkon River when a foot bridge buckled in July 1997.

She was one of dozens of people on the bridge at the time of the collapse, which killed
four Australians and injured many others.

SASHA's father COLIN ELTERMAN of Sydney says families involved in the tragedy want a speedy
resolution to an ongoing inquiry into the bridge collapse.

But he says investigations have been thwarted at every turn by officials of the Games --
also called the Jewish Olympics.

SASHA, a tennis player, spent 10 months in hospital fighting for her life after fungus she
swallowed in the polluted river infected her lungs and brain.

She has had close to 30 operations and was released from hospital in December.
